Enroll in LCA
Admission Requirements and Lottery
The primary requirement for admission to the school is the timely submission of an application. (For residents of SASD, a School Choice form will suffice as the application to LCA.) All applications received by the end of the stated enrollment period are divided by grade and, if more applications for a grade are received than space is available, a lottery is held for that grade. Applications are drawn one by one for placement in the classroom and then continue to be drawn for positions on the waiting list. Parents are notified soon after the lottery of their child’s enrollment or waiting list status for the following school year.
Applications received after the initial enrollment period are either placed on a first-come-first-serve basis if there is an opening in the grade or they are placed at the bottom of the waiting list.
Note that the application is per student and not a family application. In some cases, one student may be placed while a sibling remains on a waiting list.
The only lottery priorities applicable to LCA and allowed by Wisconsin state law are: 1) Applicants with siblings currently enrolled at LCA and 2) Children of LCA staff members.
Students who are enrolled in Lake Country Academy do not need to reapply each year.
Pre-K students must be at least 4 years old by September 1 of his/her Pre-K year; no early admission is allowed. (Kindergarteners must by 5 years old by September 1 of his/her kindergarten year.)
Open Enrollment
If you live outside of the SASD, you will need to complete two applications. First, you must submit a Lake Country Academy application during our initial enrollment period. This application will ensure your child will be included in the lottery. Secondly, you will need to complete the Department of Public Instruction’s Open Enrollment Application available mid-February through April 30. The exact application dates are on the DPI’s website. Once Open Enrollment has been accepted, you do not need to apply each year.
Waiting List
We will continue to fill openings from the waiting list until the end of the 1st quarter. Per state statutes, our waiting list does not roll over from year to year. One must reapply each year until accepted.
If your student is on the waiting list, you are encouraged to attend an open house and read all available materials so that you may make an informed decision quickly if or when your child’s name is called from the waiting list. Enrollment offers not accepted by the deadline set forth in the offer shall be deemed to be declined.
